Denise Chanterelle DuBois, Portland, OR memoirist, needed some help bringing her work over the finish line. It was my singular pleasure to work side-by-side with her to clarify and refine key passages. Self-Made Woman, the difficult story of her struggle to overcome the circumstances of her birth as Dennis in the late 1950’s, offers a very different perspective than “model trans” Caitlyn Jenner. This important story is available nationwide beginning August 22nd.

Vancouver, WA Law Firm practicing guardianship law, and planning for expansion of the practice, hired me to work with staff to develop a job procedures manual. The goal of the project was to document activities and serve as a training manual for new support staff.
Work began with an initial brainstorming workshop to develop and begin to prioritize a list of staff activities. From this list, we developed a document outline and tracking spreadsheet to define the work and the review/approvals process.
Drawing from staff interviews and independent research into the guardianship process, the procedures manual began to take shape. While work is still in progress, the vision is for a living, highly searchable document that experienced staff can continue to update, and new staff can use as a reference as they learn their jobs.
In addition to detailed, simple step-by-step instructions for everything from using the messenger service to preparing court documents, the procedure manual includes an extensive glossary, photos of what the work should look like, and links to outside resources to support the text. Sample here.
Selected Work Experience:

When the team moved from a generalist model, I continued to work directly with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) across the organization (Product Marketing, Research, Product Engineering, Implementation, Test Publishing, Professional Development and Sales) to write compelling, customer oriented responses to RFP and RFI requirements. Successes included a tender to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), which you can read more about here, as well as proposals to many state and local school districts.
